Acqua di Parma Colonia Ambra Eau de Colônia Masculino 180 ml

I was expecting a soft amber from the name. I discovered it’s ambergris and was a bit disappointed. And, mostly, it’s a bitter leather that’s predominant. Performances are good.

On application, CA betrays a definite sense of the house style of AdP, at least in their brown-bottled offerings. This is something like a powdery, hesperic-woody accord, that is a little on the synthetic side - but rather good synthetic, and hard to mistake once you've had a bit of practice. Beyond that, I have to agree with reviewers here who see little concerning amber present. CA gives off a strong rose note and is pleasant in a dark kind of way. But as it doesn't go anywhere, as the Oud and Leather variants do so well, it has a slightly unfinished vibe about it. It receives a neutral rather than positive rating because it certainly suffers by comparison with the terrific stablemates mentioned.

I bought this and other products across the Colonia parfum scent from Acqua di Parma for my partner. Although dearer than the other colognes, this Ambra addition is a deep, gorgeous and sensual scent - worth the extra cost. It is an intense parfum, and so you do not need to use a lot, and lasts a good amount of time too.

This perfume is very similar to the Oud one in the same line from Acqua di Parma. They both have the tradition ADP citrus notes but these are contrasted against amber (or in the other case Oud). The result kind of clashes and is a bit screechy and odd in my opinion and yet...I love it! I literally crave smelling this one sometimes. It’s hard to describe so I do recommend trying in the shop before buying.
